Happy Friday and happy Fall! We had our first cool front and while temps in the high 60s might not seem like the harbinger of fall they were a welcome experience this week.
I also enjoyed a little sewing time – I broke into a pretty jelly roll of V&Co’s ombre confetti and started working on the pattern from last week’s FPF. I really don’t think I’ll ever get tired of looking at this fabric!
I didn’t need the browns and grays for the railway quilt and added in a few solids for the intersecting triangles. The background color that BusyHandsQuilts used in her example was white, which I tend to shy away from (living with boys means that white turns to dingy gray pretty quickly!) so I found a dark teal in my stash that I hope will work out well. What do you think? I haven’t yet had a chance to trim the blocks, but that’s the next step.
Speaking of pretty colors, this week’s free pattern is from an old Kate Spain collection, so of course it looks good on the front cover! It’s another jelly roll friendly quilt, so a great way to use up one of those long-hoarded treasures in your stash!
High contrast between the background and the colors is a must, but a monochromatic palette would be interesting. A more aggressive color-wheel color choice would also be a great option.
The pattern is not complicated, but you do need to be fairly organized or putting everything together after you’ve cut it will be a nightmare!
Have a great weekend!
