Happy Friday! It’s wonderful that it’s finally fall around here – lots of rain but it feels like sewing weather and I’ve been making some progress on a FPF pattern I started in September.
I’ve also worked on a few Halloween costumes and have almost finished taking care of the final one, a porcupine. The costume is based on a fur cape which was definitely an interesting sewing project – not complicated if one is using regular fabric, but gathering fur????? Nope – no thread that I owned was capable of that task.
Fortunately there are plenty of other projects to dream about rather than look too closely at my hand-sewing. Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic has started her sew along project. As always, I love her work (although if I’m able to keep up with this beauty, I will likely re-work the final placement of the blocks). Some of these blocks would look amazing as whole quilts or as the center of medallion quilts.
This week’s FPF is a good looking quilt by Kimberly Einmo and published by Timeless Treasures. I’m not a fan of the colors used in the photo – I think it would look amazing with KAFFE. What do you think?
You’d have to be a little careful to get the proper contrast within the pinwheels (sometimes the Kaffe patterns within the same color family can blend a little too well and you might not get enough separation). Or, instead of going for the same color family, as in the sample, you could go for contrasting colors within each pinwheel and have a magnificent riot of color – which Kaffe fabrics are so amazing at creating. And of course the white background would have to go. It would be a lot of fun to pick out the fabrics for this project.
Have a wonderful weekend
