Free Pattern Friday is off to a late start today – I’ll blame it on the snow, but this didn’t even cause a school delay. I think that this is the first time since we’ve lived in Texas that school hasn’t been cancelled for the smallest amount of flakes.
The truth is much more boring and involves picking up popcorn for Cub Scouts, so let’s get on with the exciting part of FPF!
Today’s free pattern is a beauty from Robert Kaufman and is made entirely of Kona solids and was designed by Janice Zeller Ryan of www.betteroffthread.com. It uses two roll ups (jelly rolls) and is not nearly as complicated to construct as it looks. After sewing five strips together in a specific placement of background, dark, medium, and light strips, the strips are sub-cut into squares, which are cut into triangles. The triangles are rearranged and sewn back together to achieve the unique look of a sparkling diamond.
I love it! How about you?
Have fun quilting this weekend!
